Scholarships for Potomac Falls HS, Broad Run HS, Dominion HS and Monroe Tech The Rotary Club of Sterling bases its scholarship awards based on the principles of our motto "service above self". We believe that this motto enhances student growth by developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others; and advancing international understanding and goodwill. Sugarland Run Elementary School Read to Me Program An early childhood reading program engages the community and elementary school students with the hope of building reading skills. Seneca Ridge Middle School After-School Music Program The Rotary Club of Sterling donated funds to help pay for after-school one-on-one music lessons for Seneca Ridge Middle School bands students. Dominion High School Athlete to Atleta In a program known as "World Cup Soccer," teams of students at Dominion High School play intramural soccer. But their commitment goes on outside the playing field. They also collect donated soccer equipment, which is then shipped to Costa Rica where it is handed out to at-risk children. The more the Dominion teams collect, they higher they rank in the team standings. As Dominion Athletic Director Joe Fleming told the Washington Post in 2007: "The core of the program is to have young men doing something healthy and something they love instead of going to an empty house or getting in the wrong elements. They are proving how good they are by giving back to their homeland. It's a win-win situation." [ Top ]
